Getting to the Sheiling Mountain Lodge

The Sheiling  is located equal distance from Calgary or Edmonton.   Approximately 3 1/2 hours

From Edmonton, take Highway 2 South, turn right at either Leduc, Pigeon Lake, or Bentley turn off and travel to Highway 22 (the Drayton Valley to Rocky Mtn House road.)  Once on 22 drive South until you reach Highway 11, this turn is 2 km before Rocky Mountain House.  Depending on which side of Edmonton you are coming from going thruugh Red Deer works too.  From Red Deer take Highway 11 West.

From Calgary, take Highway 22 through Cochrane, Sundre, and Caroline works well.  Going to Red Deer may be quicker, depending on which end of Calgary you live in.

Leaving from either Edmonton or Calgary; the scenic routes are spectacular.   Edmonton via Jasper and the Icefields Parkway will add another 2 - 3 hours on your trip and from Calgary via Banff and the Icefields Parkway will add another 1 1/2 hours .  If you're not in a hurry, it's a beautiful drive.

Once you are headed west out of Rocky Mountain House on Highway 11 “The David Thompson Highway”, drive the 90 kms to Nordegg and stay on the highway going past Nordegg for 10.8 km.   A big brown highway sign which says "Centre for Outdoor Education" marks the driveway.  There is a also a big sign in our driveway shaped like the COE logo.  We're only 100 meters off the highway.  It takes one hour to get here from Rocky Mountain House, with no stops, weather permitting.

Going West from Rocky on  Highway 11  if you get to the Dry Haven Campground on the left side, you've gone 200 metres too far.
Going East from the Parkway on 11 if you get to the Goldeye Turnoff on the left  you've gone 1.2 km. too far.

Please remember, when you're driving on Wilderness Highways, night or day, watch out for our Wildlife.  They are beautiful, majestic, and can do a whole lot of damage to your vehicle and you.  Please pay attention while driving.

If you need assistance, or you're completely turned around and lost, call us at 1-800-474-8632.  There are cell towers up and down Highway 11.

In case of an emergency call 911.

Looking forward to seeing you soon!
